CARBON REDUCTION PLAN (WALES)
1. Organisation Details
Organisation Name: Hippo Health Care Limited
Reporting Period: 2024 Baseline Year
Geographical Scope: England and Wales
2. Commitment to Achieving Net Zero
Hippo Health Care Limited is committed to achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2050, in line with UK Government targets and the sustainability principles set out within Wales. The organisation recognises its responsibility to reduce greenhouse gas emissions arising from its operations and supply chain activities, and to contribute positively to environmental protection and climate resilience.
This commitment is embedded within the organisation’s wider ESG framework and is supported by continuous monitoring, transparent reporting, and the implementation of practical carbon reduction initiatives.
3. Baseline Emissions Footprint (2024)
Hippo Health Care Limited will establish and maintain a baseline carbon footprint using 2024 as the reporting year. This will include emissions arising from direct fuel use, purchased electricity, and relevant indirect sources such as business travel, waste, and procurement activities. The organisation is committed to improving the accuracy and completeness of its emissions data over time to ensure robust reporting and informed decision-making.
4. Carbon Reduction Targets
Hippo Health Care Limited aims to achieve a meaningful and sustained reduction in emissions across all areas of the business. The organisation has set an initial target to reduce overall emissions by 50% by 2035, with the long-term objective of achieving Net Zero by 2050. Progress will be reviewed annually, with interim targets refined as data quality improves and reduction opportunities are identified.
5. Carbon Reduction Measures
Hippo Health Care Limited will take a structured and proportionate approach to reducing carbon emissions across its operations. Energy consumption will be actively managed through the adoption of energy-efficient technologies, such as LED lighting, and through the procurement of renewable energy where this is economically viable. Staff will be encouraged to adopt energy-conscious behaviours, and energy use will be monitored to identify further opportunities for reduction.
In relation to travel and transport, the organisation will seek to minimise the need for business travel wherever possible by promoting flexible and remote working arrangements. Where travel is necessary, lower-emission options such as public transport and car sharing will be encouraged. A baseline for business mileage will be established and used to drive year-on-year reductions.
Waste and resource management will focus on reducing overall consumption, increasing reuse, and maximising recycling rates. The organisation will seek to minimise single-use plastics and ensure that waste is disposed of responsibly through licensed providers. Procurement practices will also support carbon reduction by favouring suppliers who demonstrate strong environmental credentials and sustainable practices.
6. Governance
Responsibility for the delivery of this Carbon Reduction Plan sits with the Senior Management Team, who will ensure that appropriate resources, systems, and processes are in place. Progress will be reviewed on at least an annual basis, and updates will be incorporated into wider organisational reporting.
7. Declaration
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and approved by the Director(s) of Hippo Health Care Limited and will be subject to ongoing review to ensure its continued relevance and effectiveness.
